SALT LAKE CITY — A Dutchman's replica of Noah's Ark — built to biblical proportions — is now open to the public. Johan Huibers built the wooden boat following a 1992 dream that his homeland would be flooded.

CNN reports it took Huibers, who is a wealthy businessman, four years to complete the project. It is now on display on the Merwede River in the Dutch town of Dordrecht.

According to the Huffington Post, Huibers used the biblical measurement of a cubit -- equivalent to the length of a man's arm from elbow to fingertips -- to build the boat to the dimensions specified in the Bible. It's about 450 feet long, 70 feet wide and 45 feet high.

CNN says the ship functions as a Bible museum of sorts, and is filled with life-sized plastic animals and live birds.

This is not Huibers' first ark. He built a half-scale version in 2004.

The Post says he hoped to take the full-sized ark to London, but scrapped the plans when Olympic officials raised safety concerns.
