SALT LAKE CITY — After five hours of waiting in line, he could finally see the doors that could lead to a new life. Jason Conrow was one of hundreds hoping that a casting director from the TV show "Biggest Loser" would notice him.
"It's about trying to change my life," Conrow said. "I've been overweight my whole life."
He came from Coeur d'Alene Idaho to attend the casting calls for the show at the KSL Broadcast House in Salt Lake City.
"It's time. We gotta do something, so, this is what we did and we're going to go for it," Conrow said.
Like almost every other person who waiting in line, he has come to the point where he wants to change his appearance and health, and hopes that the "Biggest Loser" will help do that.
David Coy is ready for the physical challenge it will take to get fit.
"It's hard work, but you know what? I'm a hard worker," the Orem resident said. "I'm willing to do it and I'm up for the challenge."
Holladay resident Brandi Davis could be seen taking photos of "Biggest Loser" posters and with the show van, but her reason to get in front of the camera and lose weight was more than to be seen.
"It means a lot," she said. "It means living healthy and being around to watch my younger siblings, who I've helped raise, graduate college and maybe go onto better things in life."
But Sione Fa, a former contestant of the show, issues a word of caution. He says the show is not a guarantee for losing weight. Fa lost 150 pounds, but doesn't want someone's weight loss journey to be totally dependent on a TV show.
"When you walk out those doors after your interview, guess what? It's still your life," he said. "You still have control and you decide when and where to start."
Those who make the first round of cuts will get a phone call sometime Saturday night.
