The promotion machine has been cranked up to mark Dick Nourse's last month in the KSL anchor chair.

Promotions of the past include the following:

"One thing about news is there's plenty of it. It comes to you every day like a freight train and here at Channel 5 we have a full-time news crew keeping you posted as to what happened and why."

"Learn what's going on through the high-caliber reporting of anchorman Dick Nourse, with concise news from at home and abroad -- succinct news analysis, news exclusively designed for the people of mountain America."

"The most looked-forward-to news program is the number-one Channel 5 news with Nourse, Welti and James, in color weeknights at 6 and 10 pm. The number-one reason more people turn to broadcast house and Channel 5."

"Eyewitness News: It's more than a name, it's what we do."

Of all the promos he's done over the years, one sticks out as Dick's personal favorite. Back in the '70s there was a joke going around about a farmer who was 'outstanding in his field.' He wanted to twist that line into a news promo for Nourse, Welti and James. Gene Minshall, the 10 o'clock news producer, ran with it, and a reluctant management agreed to air it.

At one time it became the most-remembered news promo in town.

You can see these old promos and leave a comment for Dick in our "Farewell to Dick" Web page.
