(KSL News) Two mens' plan to attack someone backfired when the victim put up an overwhelming fight.

It happened at 117 W. Inglenook Dr. in Midvale. The men first tried taking money, but the acquaintance didn't have any. Then they tried stealing his car.

The victim put up a fight. That's when one of the attackers lost his gun.

Det. John Salazar of the Midvale Police Department said, "The gun came out of the suspect's waistband. We believe the victim grabbed a hold of the gun and a shot rang out, striking our suspect in his right forearm."

During the struggle, the gunman was also hit in the stomach and taken to a hospital. Police arrested the other suspect.

The victim suffered a minor cut to his ear. Police are still investigating, but they have learned the victim and suspects know each other.
