WEST JORDAN — Even as firefighters battle a more than 6,000-acre blaze in Eagle Mountain, authorities are responding to a three- alarm fire at about 2305 W. 7095 S. in West Jordan.

The fire has spread to the front of one house and the back of another.

Leeds

A brush fire near I-15 northbound at milepost 15 is blowing heavy smoke across the freeway. Exit 22 was closed for a time but has been reopened.

At least three structures have been destroyed. Evacuations are in place along the east side of Leeds.

The American Red Cross has opened a reception center at the LDS meetinghouse located at the corner of Main Street and Cherry Lane in Leeds for those forced to evacuate.

Up to 40 people have reportedly been evacuated, and approximately ten people are currently at the center. If necessary, the reception center will be transformed into an overnight shelter.

Large animals can be housed at the county fairgrounds. For other evacuated animals, call 435-467-1497 to make arrangements.

The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but authorities say it was likely human caused.

Sanpete County

A 1,000-acre fire near Wood Hollow is moving northeast, according to the Sanpete Sheriff's Office. Officials say four or five cabins are being evacuated. Dozers and a helicopter are en route to the scene.

Sanpete County sheriff's deputies were asking residents of Oaker Hills, Elk Ridge and Indian Ridge subdivisions to voluntarily evacuate about 9 p.m. Those who didn't leave were advised to be packed and ready should the evacuations become mandatory.

Delta

A fire burning in Millard County has consumed at least 16,600 acres. No structures have been destroyed. One home was threatened before firefighters soaked the grass around the home to prevent it catching fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but one volunteer fire fighter said the fire may have started from a cigarette or fireworks tossed along highway 50 near Delta.

Murray

Authorities are also at the scene of a fire that is threatening homes in Murray.

The fire is at 1300 W. 5800 S. and is burning fences and threatening structures. So far, no structures have been damaged.

Sandy

Another fire broke out Saturday near the Alta Canyon Rec Center at 9300 S. Highland Drive in Sandy.

West Valley

A field fire broke out near the Decker Lake Youth Center at 2310 W. 2770 S. in West Valley.

Draper

A field fire threatened homes in Draper on Saturday morning.

The fire was at 12100 S. 1000 E. and damaged one home and threatened two others. The fire began at approximately 12:20 p.m. and burned through 150 feet of wooden fencing before it was contained 25 minutes later, Unified Fire Capt. Lee Ascarte said.

The fire caused $35,000 in damage, including light damage to a garage and vehicle at one of the homes, he said. The cause of the fire was still being investigated but Ascarte said it was deemed suspicious and possibly human-caused.

Thanksgiving Point

A brush fire was blowing smoke across I-15 northbound at 15075 South on Saturday afternoon. There were no injuries.

Bountiful

Crews have a fire under control at 125 S. 1300 E. in Bountiful. Witnesses said a shed caught fire, which in turn caught dry brush and ultimately an old vehicle on fire.

Ogden

Crews responded to a grass fire at 5 a.m. Saturday morning at about 690 W. Exchange Road in Ogden.

The fire was about five acres in size and was successfully extinguished by a total of five crews.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and is under investigation.
