DRAPER — A fire in a barn was quickly put out by fire crews Saturday night.

The fire started around 8 p.m. in an abandoned barn at 65 E. Wadsworth Park Drive, just behind a Harmons grocery store in Draper. The flames and heavy smoke were visible from Bangerter Highway, nearly licking the tops of surrounding trees.

Firefighters from the Unified, Sandy and Bluffdale Fire Departments responded to the blaze, and quickly contained it before it spread to nearby grass and trees. No other structures were damaged in the fire.

According to investigators, witnesses saw teenagers running from the area just before the flames became visible, but its cause is still under investigation.
