(KSL News) Hill Air Force Base rolled out the first of 11 F-16 fighter jets, refurbished to fly with the Air Force Thunderbirds.

These planes eventually will replace the current Thunderbirds on the Aerial Demonstration Team and should be ready for the 2009 show season.

Each plane gets a new red, white and blue paint job, has its gun system removed and acquires a smoke-generating system. The retired Thunderbird aircraft will be reconfigured for combat.
