SALT LAKE CITY -- Author and columnist Jeff Benedict weighs in on whether Mitt Romney should start championing his Mormon faith on the campaign trail.
"Mormonism has been a huge defining influence on his life," Benedict told KSL Newsradio this morning. "Other than his family, it's probably the most defining influence he's had."
Benedict doesn't suggest Romney should campaign about Mormonism. But he says the presidential hopeful has opportunities to "showcase how these are things that have been an incredibly positive influence on this very successful man."

Benedict pointed out many people have worked with Romney in civic and other settings. "Everybody who I've ever come across who's worked with Mitt Romney has nothing but positive things to say about him and the role religion has played in his life. He could certainly say more about that. It's part of his narrative."
Benedict was the first Mormon to run for Congress in Connecticut and recently wrote in the Hartford Curant about Romney and his faith.
