(KSL News) Gov. Jon Huntsman's energy adviser took recommendations today for new policies and programs to increase energy efficiency.
The implementation of these recommendations would reinforce the energy efficiency goal the governor established in April 2006. The goal is to increase energy efficiency across the state 20 percent by 2015.
"Developing our energy resource potential, you can see from this chart, has the potential to save Utah citizens, Utah businesses and the state of Utah government combined over $7 billion in economic benefit," said Sarah Wright, with Utah Clean Energy.
The findings are part of the Utah Energy Efficiency Strategy released today. They also found that energy efficiency would save more than three billion gallons of water a year by 2015 and reduce emissions contributing to global warming.
