WASHINGTON (AP) -- Utah's favorite adopted son, Mitt Romney, continues to rake in campaign donations from the Beehive state.
Campaign donation reports filed Monday with the Federal Election Commission show the former Massachusetts governor and 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics chief pulled in $822,094 from Utahns during the third-quarter.
Romney's California backers were the most generous, donating $1.3 million. Florida supporters gave another $724,988.
But the campaign spent more than twice what it raised between July and September -- $21 million -- with Romney dipping into his personal assets to loan the campaign $8.5 million.
The former governor has loaned his campaign a total of $17.4 million.
Overall Romney has raised $62.8 million to fund his bid to become the Republican's nominee for the 2008 presidential election.
