SALT LAKE COUNTY — Learning to snowboard can be intimidating, but this week's Wednesday's Child, Jonathan, took it all in stride.

Jonathon, who goes by Jon, is a likeable young man with a willingness to try new things and the confidence to put the "true Jon" out for everyone to see. He has recently participated in Tae Kwon Do classes, which he really enjoyed. Winding down with a good movie or playing video games are a few of his favorite activities.
The day KSL News joined Jonathan on the slopes, it was only his second time snowboarding — and the last time was several years ago. But he picked it up pretty quickly.
This easy-going 15-year-old was eager to learn and took in everything his instructor is saying.
"It is way easier than I thought," Jonathan said. "I thought it was going to be way hard."
Jonathan is thoughtful and loves to read. "Books I hear from my teachers that they say are good, I read," he said.

He may be carefree up on the slopes, but life has had a few bumps along the way. Jonathan is currently in foster care, awaiting adoption; he's been in foster care for about five years.
Jonathan has learned to adapt to new environments quickly, and he's hoping the next
"I think it'd be lonely just being by yourself," he said.
