WEST VALLEY CITY — Brandon Miller scored a game-high 24 points as Brighton earned a spot in the 5A championship game with a 61-56 victory over Riverton.

Brighton got off to a fast start outscoring Riverton 14-6 in the first quarter. The Bengals led by as much as 12 at the end of the 3rd quarter but Riverton kept fighting. They cut the Brighton lead to four late in the 4th quarter but could never get any closer.

Brighton shot 48 percent from the field while holding Riverton to just 37 percent shooting. D McCleary had 14 points for Riverton as did Stephan Holm.

Bryce Callahan chipped in with 14 points for the Bengals who will play No. 3 Lone Peak Saturday at 4pm for the 5A state championship.
