Most Utahns are likely to support a candidate who is tougher on immigration. But what doest this mean? The old round 'em up, ship 'em out idea is both impossible and devoid of compassion. Doug thinks it's really time to think this issue through. Here are some of his points. 1. The US needs this workforce. Farmers around the country are reporting labor shortages. A more simple system needs to be implemented. A worker's visa should be extremely easy to obtain. 2. For those who want to deport everyone, does this include the children, who are entirely innocent? 3. Immgigrants are not hurting the unemployment rate, especially in Utah. 4. Racism is certainly a factor here. 5. The US allowed this problem to happen and now has created a panic by ignoring it so long. 6. Steep fines need to be implemented for those who hire workers without documentation. 7. Nothing in our current system is working.
