Greg Neft, KSL Newsradio Utah Sen. Bob Bennett is urging his Senate colleagues not to give up on Iraq.
Bennett says arguing about whether Iraq was the right move is pointless. "They are not necessarily that valuable as we're addressing the question of, ‘What do we do now?'" he said.
He admits mistakes were made. "The one that strikes me as being the most significant was our failure to understand the degree to which Saddam Hussein had destroyed that country," Bennett said.
But he says leaving isn't an option. "Getting out is to ignore the conditions on the ground," he said.
Bennett points to a recent report from the American Enterprise Institute which says any time-line-dependent withdrawal won't help.
