SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Holly Richardson resigned from the Utah Legislature on Friday to work on former state senator Dan Liljenquist's U.S. Senate campaign.
"This decision was not made easily or lightly. I have worked to be a voice for limited government and to represent all of the residents of District 57," the Pleasant Grove Republican said in her resignation letter.
Richardson, known for her "Holly on the Hill" blog, filled a vacancy in the House created when it was discovered that former GOP representative Craig Frank did not live in the district boundaries. Richardson served for one legislative session.
"When I stepped up to run to fill a midterm vacancy, I had no idea of the changes the coming months would bring," she said.
Richardson said it became clear to her that Utah could not continue to be a well-managed state, if the business-as- usual practices in Washington, D.C. don't change. Liljenquist announced his bid for the Senate on Wednesday.
