SALT LAKE CITY — While 15-year-old Mariah may be shy around people sometimes, her eyes light up around animals. That was evident when she recently visited Utah's Hogle Zoo with KSL News.

Special Interests: Art, animals, Disney
Mariah is an energetic, intelligent and out- going teenager with a love for animals, especially cats, dogs, and horses. She also loves just about everything Disney, especially the Jonas Brothers and Senela Gomez. Her favorite colors are pink and purple.
"They're cute, cuddly and nice," Mariah explained. "I could understand where animals come from and how they feel when somebody in our kind just comes up to them and think(s) that they own them or something."
Mariah hasn't had it easy. She's been in foster care for as long as she can remember — in nearly a dozen different homes. With each move, she finds "just another place to stay."
Mariah says she likes to dance and loves to sing — her favorite artist is Selena Gomez.
