Sandra Yi ReportingPolice are investigating the murder of a man found in a fast food restaurant parking lot, but they have little to go on.
Craig Gibson: "It is truly a mystery. We have so many questions right now."
Police are still trying to find witnesses. The businesses in the area were closed when a passerby found the victim's body in the parking lot of a Crown Burger restaurant.
Police know who the victim is, but are still notifying family members. The victim was 46-years old and was possibly from the Davis County area. He was found lying face down in the parking lot and appeared to have blunt force trauma to his head.
Right now, police have little to go on. They don't know how long the body was there or if the victim was killed there or if he was killed somewhere else and his dumped here. Police hope autopsy results will provide more answers.
Asst. Chief Crag Gibson, Layton Police Dept.: "These are the kind of homicides that frustrate you because it's just a lot of legwork, and it will probably take a good amount of time to build up from where we're at, which is at scratch, frankly."
The man was carrying a gym bag containing clothes and a wallet. The man also had an ID. Again, police are not releasing his name because they are still contacting family members.
Meantime, investigators are canvassing the area, going through dumpsters and reviewing any surveillance tape. Police doubt that this was a random murder because they say, those types of crimes are rare. But they obviously want to find a suspect. If you have any information, call Layton Police.
