SALT LAKE CITY — A 14-year-old was seriously injured when he was stabbed near his home Tuesday afternoon.
Salt Lake City police say the stabbing happened around 3:30 p.m. The teen received serious stab wounds to the chest but was able to stumble home to get help.
Officers then spotted a vehicle matching the teen's description near 2500 South and 800 East, a few blocks from the teen's home. The car was pulled over and the four occupants, all teenagers, were taken into custody and are now being questioned.
The injured teenager was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
Police say words were exchanged between the teen and the occupants of the vehicle prior to the stabbing, but they do not yet have a motive for the crime.
"We're not sure if they're associates, if they know each other," said Salt Lake City Police Lt. Isaac Atencio. "Right now, we just know we do have people we feel were involved. And so we're going to go from there and try to sort that out."
