SALT LAKE CITY — The Greatest Snow on Earth also happens to be the best bargain.

Salt Lake City ranks as the most affordable ski destination in North America, according to travel website TripAdvisor.

The website's TripIndex Ski feature compares costs of one night's hotel accommodation, a basic ski-rental package, a one-day lift ticket and a burger, fries and bottle of beer at 20 popular ski destinations in the U.S. and Canada.

Salt Lake City topped the list of best value ski destinations at just under $239. North Conway, N.H., was close behind at $240. Taos, N.M., was third at $250, followed by Jackson, Wyo., at $284.

Park City ranked as one of the most expensive ski destinations at $667, surpassed only by Vail and Aspen, Colo., at $646 and $673, respectively. Hotel costs at the three destinations all exceeded $500, according to the report.

Colorado ranked as the most expensive state for U.S. skiers, with four of the top five most expensive ski destinations on the list. Telluride was fourth at $587 and Steamboat Springs was fifth at $574.

There are 11 world-class ski resorts within one hour of Salt Lake City International Airport.
