HERRIMAN — A Herriman High School teacher and assistant softball coach was charged Friday with supplying alcohol to "a number of students during non-school hours."
Kylie Devey, 21, worked at the school since 2010 and resigned from her position on Nov. 21, said Jordan School District spokesman Steve Dunham. He declined to comment on the reason Devey quit, but police have been investigating the various incidents since September.
A parent who discovered inappropriate texts between her daughter and Devey informed police of the situation. Police say Devey offered one student some wine coolers after the two had been working out together at a local recreation center and again while the two were driving around, charging documents state.
Devey is also accused of supplying beer for a gathering of at least five students at one of the student's homes. One student said Devey brought three cases of beer to the party, the charges state. All three incidents occurred between September and November of this year.
Devey was charged with five counts of knowingly furnishing alcohol to a minor, a class A misdemeanor. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.
