OGDEN -- Police in Ogden are looking to reduce crime by revoking the license of one business they say is a hotspot for crime.

The business, Courtyard Inn is a motel in downtown Ogden. Police say they've documented a sharp up-tick in crime there since the current owners took over almost two years ago.
The owners insist they are trying to work with the city and the police. They have taken extended measures to verify guest identity and have created a "Do Not Rent" list to which they refer. Still, police give a long list of evidence against the case that includes allowing people to rent rooms under aliases like the name of one of their hotel maids. Police also say that the owners overlooked or ignored indications of drug use and prostitution and have failed to remove individuals involved in reported assaults or other physical violence.
They have hired an attorney to look at their options, including taking the matter to 2nd District Court. In the meantime, the owners have until 3pm tomorrow to cease all business activities on the property.
