SOUTH JORDAN — City Hall outlined the process it will follow to replace Mayor W. Kent Money, who steps down Feb. 1 to take a new work assignment in New Zealand.
The City Council will appoint a replacement to fill the remaining two years of Money's term. Individuals interested in applying for the position must fill out a declaration of candidacy form in person at the City Recorder's office, 1600 W. Towne Center Drive, and are asked to submit a brief resume. The deadline for submitting applications is Dec. 22 at noon.
Interested candidates must be registered to vote in South Jordan and have been a South Jordan resident for the 12 consecutive months before the appointment.
The City Council plans to deliberate and vote to fill the vacancy at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Candidates may be asked to address the Council during that meeting.
