Transportation becoming more feasible, residents still asked to stay home

DAVIS COUNTY -- Farmington City officials asked residents Thursday that they stay at home to avoid further traffic congestion and accidents.

"We have many roads that are obstructed and additional traffic and accidents are an extra burden on our already overburdened crews," they said in press release.

All northbound lanes on I-15 were shutdown Thursday morning at Parrish Lane in Centerville but have since re- opened. UDOT has allowed high-profile vehicles back on the road, but caution that wind may pick up again. Earlier Thursday, at least 10 semitrucks blew over during the peak of the storm.


FrontRunner trains in Davis County were brought to a halt between Farmington and Woods Cross after light poles and roofing from a pedestrian bridge were blown onto the tracks at the station.

According to the Utah Transit Authority, service between Salt Lake and Ogden has resumed, though the Farmington station remains closed due to heavy damage. They ask that riders who are parked at the Farmington station to get off at the Layton stop, at which a shuttle service will take riders to the Farmington station.

Murray Police reported downed power lines on Highland Drive between 6100 South and 6400 South. The road was expected to be closed in both directions until crews could fix the problem.

KSL Newsradio listeners texted, "(The wind) is blowing the yellow strips off the road on Legacy Highway. No lie." Another texted, "Don't drive on 400 West in Centerville (because) there are a lot of trampolines and garbage on the road."

Delta Airlines put a 30 minute hold on all flights until about 12:30 p.m., at which point they lifted the hold and started flights up again.
