Gene Kennedy Reporting A nasty crash onvernight on I-15 in Draper. A car stalls on the freeway, tries to get out of the way but instead gets hit twice.
The Utah Highway Patrol says it's amazing people walked away from this. It was definitely a very frightening accident.
The car that stalled was in the northbound lanes and tried to move to the far left of the freeway, but only made it to the carpool lane. And, that's when cars started crashing into it.
The first car that hit the stalled vehicle sent it spinning into oncoming traffic. Then an off-duty state trooper hit both those cars, so this was a three-car accident.
Five people were inside that stalled car. In total, six people were taken to the hospital, but it could have been a lot worse. No one was seriously hurt.
It was raining at the time of the crash, but mechanical problems are to blame here. Nonetheless, with the weather we're expecting today it's a reminder for everyone to be on extra guard during this morning's rainy commute.
