Gene Kennedy ReportingWest Valley police are investigating two armed robberies at fast food restaurant drive-throughs.
It happened first at the Wendy's near 3600 South 5600 West just before the restaurant was closing.
A man in a green car ordered a meal and pulled up at drive-through. But when he was supposed to pay, he greeted the employee at the window with a gun and demanded money. The employee slammed the window shut and everyone inside ducked. The robber did not get any money and took off.
While police investigated that robbery, they got a call about a robbery at the Alberto's restaurant at 3500 S. 3100 West.
Sgt. Michael Coleman, West Valley City Police Dept.: "As this robbery was broadcast over the radio an officer recalled seeing the vehicle leaving the Alberto's about five minutes before, which was about the time of the robbery."
The suspect description and robbery method were the same, and this time he got away with some cash.
Police found a car nearby that matched the description. Three people were inside. All were arrested, but police now say those people were not involved and they've been released.
Police are now looking for a 1998 stolen green Jetta with license plate 039 LYW.
