Gene Kennedy Reporting Another neighborhood meth lab, the evidence brought out for all to see. Several people are staying in a jail cell this afternoon for making meth. Three police agencies came together overnight to bust them.
The drug agents were on scene for hours, from 3:00 this morning to about 8:00. As meth labs go, this was one of the bigger ones.
From early morning to sunrise, the damning evidence just kept coming -- bottles of drugs, chemicals used to make meth, hoses to aid in the process and scales to weigh it. West Valley Police arrested three people for running a very active meth lab.
Undercover Officer, West Valley Police: "It was friends and family, they were operating the lab in the basement. Last night one individual started transferring part of the lab to a different residence. We pulled him over and discovered that in the car, wrapped up."
Police decontaminated a man they pulled over on suspicion of ties to the lab, and his dog too. The dog went to the pound, the suspect to jail. And he wasn't the only on pulled over. During the overnight hours, police detained nearly a dozen people during traffic stops, all people officers believed were coming from the meth house in Taylorsville.
But since early this morning, most of those people have been released. As for the house, a sign on the door proves it's been shut down.
West Valley, Taylorsville, and South Salt Lake Police joined together in this bust. Fortunately, the officers did not find any children in that home, but unfortunately, the three people arrested are heading back to a familiar place, a jail cell.
Police tell us they've all been busted before for running meth labs.
