SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The SCO Group Inc. says it filed for bankruptcy protection.
The Utah company has been drained by a series of lawsuits claiming that its software code has been misappropriated by developers of the open-source Linux operating system.
SCO says it is seeking protection from creditors under Chapter 11 while it tries to license and improve the Unix operating system for corporate servers.
The company reported an operating loss of $1.1 million for the three-month period ending in April. A year earlier it lost $3.9 million.
