SALT LAKE CITY — A man who allegedly robbed, kidnapped or sexually assaulted multiple people from April to November was charged with 36 felonies Tuesday.
Helama Jose Bar Pragana, 22, of Kearns, targeted at least 18 different victims over the course of his eight-month crime spree, according to charges filed in 3rd District Court.
Pragana forced several people at gunpoint to withdraw money from ATMs in Murray and Taylorsville, either forcing them to drive to ATMs and withdraw money, or approaching them while they were at ATMs and demanding money, according to charges. He sexually assaulted more than one of them, according to prosecutors.
Pragana targeted multiple women at the Summerwood Apartments in Taylorsville, and he also robbed a Dollar Tree store at gun point, charges state.
Pragana was charged with 16 counts of aggravated robbery, six counts of aggravated kidnapping, three counts of aggravated burglary and three counts of aggravated sexual assault — all first-degree felonies. He's being held on a more than $1 million bond.
