(KSL News) A giant locomotive got a police escort today up Provo Canyon.

The journey for the 251,000 pound diesel-electric started in Springville.

The transportation involved a 112-tire trailer and a number of heavy-duty tractors.

Locomotive Donated to Heber Valley Railroad

Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company donated the locomotive to become a workhorse for the Heber Valley Railroad.

The 1,000-horsepower locomotive is 61 years old.
