(KSL News) -- Olympic medalist and Utah legislative candidate Jim Shea faces a challenge to his run for office.

Election officials in New York say Shea voted in Lake Placid's general election in November 2003.

The Utah Democratic Party says an individual cannot be a candidate if he has voted outside the district in which he is running, within three years of the filing deadline.

We talked with Shea tonight. He says he understands the rules and doesn't want to bend them. But when we asked him directly if he was dropping out the race, Shea was non-committal.
