You'd be hard pressed to find a bigger BYU basketball fan than 12-year-old Joshua. He knew he was coming to the Marriott Center for a tour. He just didn't know who would be leading it.

Josh was a bit star struck by Jimmer Fredette at first. It was a surprise meeting, and Joshua didn't quite know what do when he met Jimmer.

But as they walked around, he began to open up and it didn't take long before the two were talking about all of the things they had in common.

Joshua

Birthday: 12/1998
Age: 12
Year in school: 7th
Special Interests: Basketball, skateboarding, music, outdoors

Josh is a huge BYU basketball fan and admires Jimmer Fredette. An avid skateboarder, he shows little fear at the skate park and not one to be shy, this guy can often be found getting to know new people. He loves spending time in the outdoors, especially fishing and camping!

Josh has an inner confidence and is outgoing.

"Even if I see a stranger on the street, I'll just be like, ‘Hi!'"

He's been in foster care for about a year. He does his best in sports and school and wants a permanent family.

"You need to be good, that way you can be adopted," Josh said. "The perfect family for me would be a family that's really nice - and I can't think of anything else."

As Josh shot hoops with a basketball superstar, he wasn't intimidated - he was motivated. With Jimmer's encouragement, if he missed a shot, he'd grab the ball and try again until he made it.

It's that drive, something Jimmer knows a lot about, that will help Josh on the court, and in life.

The goal of Wednesday's Child is to find Joshua and the other children in Utah available for adoption permanent homes. To learn more about Josh, head to the [its special section of ksl.com](<http://www.ksl.com/?nid=165&sid=15585830 >).
