(KSL News) Some neighbors are upset about plans to expand a Smith's store, so they protested today.
The store near 8th South and 9th East wants to put in a gas station and maybe a convenience store.
Some say they're worried about pollution, and they're afraid the gas line would go over an aquifer. They also say there are enough gas stations in the area.
Chris Johnson/ East Central Community Council: "We certainly hope that Smith's will explore other options for this location. Certainly some small business stores or small retail stores might be a better alternative and increase the walkability of this neighborhood."
We tried to contact Smith's corporate offices but no one was available for comment.
