(KSL) -- A man fleeing a domestic dispute nearly crashed into a patrol car.
Salt Lake County Sheriff's deputies say the man got into a fight with his girlfriend, assaulted her, then took off in her father's car. He ran a stop sign in South Salt Lake and almost collided with a patrol car.
The deputy tried to make a traffic stop, but the man refused to pull over. The driver eventually tried to turn a corner and lost control. He slammed into a fence, jumped out of the car, and started running.
Deputies caught up with him and tasered him.
Lt. Chris Bertram, Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office: "We just happened to be in the right place at the right time, and he came through a stop sign and almost struck one of our deputies."
The chain-link fence was severely damaged, but no one was injured. Deputies suspect the man had been drinking.
