(KSL News) -- The Board of Regents meets today to discuss tuition rates and student fees for the upcoming year at Utah's public colleges and universities, and the news doesn't look good.

Lawmakers granted higher education a 5.7 percent increase. That's 2.6 percent less than they requested. So schools must turn to students to make up some of the difference.

Students at Salt Lake Community College face the smallest increase of 4-percent, while student at Dixie State College could get a 31-percent tuition hike.
