PROVO -- Police are crediting an alert neighbor with helping catch a trio of car burglars. They say her phone call landed three teens in the juvenile court system.
Provo police say the woman looked out her window Saturday night and noticed three teenagers dressed in dark clothing with backpacks getting into her neighbor's car. She called police, who showed up in time to catch one of the three, a 15-year-old boy, as he was running away. The other two were arrested later.
All three suspects, two 15-year-old boys and one 17-year-old boy, were referred to the juvenile courts for vehicle burglary and curfew violations.
Provo police say car burglaries are a menace to their city and they list it as one of their top priorities. Officers will be concentrating on areas with the highest car burglary rates in the next few months.
