(KSL News) A teenager at Orem Junior High allegedly attacked a teacher during gym class.
Police say the 14-year-old was playing too aggressively with another student. The teacher intervened and the student became verbally abusive. Witnesses say the student appeared to calm down, but as the teacher escorted him from the gym, he assaulted the teacher. He knocked off the teacher's glasses and punched him in the jaw, arm and ribs.
Police sent the student to a nearby juvenile detention center.
The teacher is okay and will be back at work today.
