Those precautionary x-rays on WR Matt Allen's jammed finger revealed a broken bone in the finger. He will be fitted with a protective mold and evaluated further during tomorrow's practice.

If you think BYU has been bitten by the injury bug, check out personnel problems in the UCLA and Tulsa backfields. Both the Bruins and Golden Hurricane have suffered either season-ending or camp-long injuries to backs projected as primary contributors.

Bronco Mendnehall will announce his redshirt plans tomorrow morning--the first "Arizona" practice, originally scheduled for 4:00pm, has been moved up, to 10:00am.

The BYU Basketball team improved to 4-0 on its 5-game tour of France with another win tonight: 89-68 over a pro team in Cannes. Jonathan Tavernari again led the Cougars in scoring (24 points), on a night Trent Plaisted left the game late in the first half with an injured ankle. He is questionable for the final game of the tour on Friday night. In talking with one of the BYU coaches, I was told the competition on the trip has run the gamut from Juco-type talent, to Division 2 and low Division 1-type teams. Tonight, Lee Cummard recorded his third double-double of the trip, while Gavin McGregor played well in Plaisted's absence, with 12 points and 12 rebounds. In all, 5 of the 8 Cougars scored in double figures.
