Paul Nelson, KSL NewsradioA recent crash in Summit County has some bikers wondering if some of the roads are safe.
Professional cyclist Mark Santurbane won't be competing anytime soon after he was hit by a truck on a route known by bikers as the Kamas-Brown loop.
"I hit the grill, you know, he hit me with the grill. I think I got flipped up into his windshield," Santurbane says.
Santurbane says there is not enough room on many Summit County roads to handle cars and bikers. He says the stretch of road he was on doesn't even have a shoulder.
"There are definitely some areas that are heavily traveled on the bicycle that aren't very safe in a lot of ways," he said.
Santurbane is recovering in LDS Hospital with five broken bones.
