SALT LAKE CITY — Drivers through I-80 past Parley’s Summit can expect road closures during upcoming weekends as new bridges are put in place.
I-80 eastbound will be closed from Saturday at 10 p.m. to Sunday at noon.
Local traffic only will be allowed through using the on- and off-ramps. UDOT’s Tania Washburn says drivers should expect up to one hour delays in the area.
All lanes on I-80 will reopen Sunday at noon.
The westbound bridge is scheduled to move from Aug. 20 at 10 p.m. to Aug. 21 at noon. I-80 will be reduced to two lanes starting Aug. 20 at 10 a.m. and will be closed overnight as crews move the bridge into place.
The work is part of the Renovate I-80 project from Salt Lake City to Wyoming. UDOT crews are replacing bridges, improving road surfaces, adding climbing lanes and installing safety barriers.
UDOT reminds drivers to use caution and slow down when traveling through construction zones. All construction is weather permitting.
