SPRINGVILLE — Antonia Moller-Knudsen had the time of her life Wednesday.
The Pleasant Grove woman celebrated her 88th birthday by crossing another item off her bucket list — a checklist of things to do before "kicking the bucket."
"I want to feel how a big truck is different … from a car," Moller-Knudsen said.
Moments later, the immigrant from Holland was behind the wheel of a semi truck, pulling a 53-foot trailer — with her four children and 28 grandchildren cheering her on.
DST Distributing provided the truck and driving instructor and allowed Moller-Knudsen to make a few laps around the Springville company's parking lot.
Next up on Moller-Knudsen's bucket list, she said, is a tandem jump out of an airplane.
And it didn't take long for the woman to figure out how the big rig worked.
"That's the going, and that's the stopping," she quipped, motioning to the respective pedals.
Moller-Knudsen came to the U.S. after enduring difficult times during World War II in Holland. She spent most of her life in Brigham City before recently moving to Pleasant Grove.
"My grandma is probably one of the most extraordinary people I've ever met," said Angie Brown, one of Moller-Knudsen's granddaughters. "And she has more spunk in here than any other woman that's 88 years old."
So what did Moller-Knudsen think of her experience driving an 18-wheeler?
"I thought it would be harder," she said.
Next up on Moller-Knudsen's bucket list, she said, is a tandem jump out of an airplane.
"I hope he has a parachute, the man that's behind me," she said.
