(KSL News) The release of a new Disney movie prompts a warning from animal owners. Several of the Siberian Huskeys used in the film "Eight Below" are actually from Utah!

In the past, movies that highlight animals -- such as 101 Dalmatians or Harry Potter -- have motivated viewers to go and purchase the featured animal. Months later, those animals turn up in shelters, once new owners realize what's really involved.

Heather Sauers/ Siberian Husky owner: "These are great dogs and outstanding pets." "But, if you want a dog that's going to lay on your couch and chase balls, this is not the breed for you."

Sauers suggests talking to someone who owns your desired pet, to make sure you are ready for the committment.
