(KSL News) -- Investigators uncovered a chop shop with a twist. Suspects were not only stealing and dismantling car parts, they were creating counterfeit temporary auto permits.
Authorities traced stolen car parts to the location at 1225 E. 6600 S. They searched the house and found countless fenders, tires, wheels, and transmissions. In addition, investigators found narcotics, stolen car dealer license plates and at least four fake vehicle permits, complete with aluminum foil holograms.

Officials say the permits were accurate enough to trick police officers.
Kent Jorgensen, Motor Vehicle Enforcement: "It is. I mean, you're following from 30, 40 feet behind it, that tin foil looks just fine."
Three men were arrested in connection with auto theft and counterfeiting Utah temporary auto permits. Authorities are still looking for one more suspect and believe they know where to find him.
