Marc Giauque, KSL NewsradioA Salt Lake City group is vowing to sue over a ruling regarding a dog park.
Members of the Great Salt Lakekeeper conservation group say members of the city council overstepped their bounds when they designated Parley's Historic Nature Park as an off-leash area for dogs.
The group claims much of the land is controlled by the county, and the city should not have control of it.
Jeff Salt is with the group "Friends of Parley's Historic Park." He says the people who originally donated the land wanted to give everyone an area to learn about nature and didn't intend for it to be a free-for-all with dogs.
He also says the park is underused and overregulated. The park is hugely popular with dog owners who say they, for the most part, take good care of it.
In making the off-leash designation, the city council also promised to look at environmental concerns to the area.
