Dina Freedman ReportingOur big February storm was a good one, some of the highest snow totals we've seen in the city in a year! Impressive to say the least, but now it's time to start cleaning up a little bit of mother nature's leftovers.
From a visual standpoint, the snow is just stunning and has really covered up some of the brown that was on the valley floors and lower benches. Highways, although not as sloppy or dangerous as yesterday, were still a mess for the morning commute and it was still slippery.
With six to 10 inches of snow in downtown Salt Lake and in other towns, many people were left digging out of the latest winter storm. Over nine inches reportedly feel at the airport.
Maureen Jenks, Salt Lake City Resident: "I thought that last night was going to be the end of the storm, and I woke up and looked at my porch, and my whole table and chairs had you know decent sizes of snow on there, so I was surprised."
Crews worked overnight and into the morning trying to keep the roads clear. Even so, it was still slow going on I-15, from the Point of the Mountain to downtown Salt Lake, and from Davis County heading into Salt Lake for the in morning commute.
The snow isn't going anywhere, with highs around freezing for about the next four to five days.
Yesterday, authorities reported more than 200 crashes in Salt Lake County alone, including one fatality.
