SALT LAKE CITY — A new report ranked Utah among the top 10 states where blue collar jobs are disappearing.

A 24/7 Wall St. report showed the Beehive State ranked No. 2 in places that are running out of blue-collar jobs.

Between 2000 and 2010, the economy lost roughly 4 million blue-collar jobs — according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics — mainly as a result of manufacturing job losses, the housing crisis and the recession. The report analyzed the 10 states where this erosion was the worst.

New Hampshire ranked first — losing 7.92 percent of its blue- collar employment during the 10-year period, followed by Utah — which lost 7.27 percent of working class jobs. Vermont was third with a 7.23 percent decrease, Arkansas ranked fourth — down 7.18 percent, with Michigan rounding out the top five having lost 6.8 percent of blue-collar jobs.

The report showed Arizona, Georgia, Wyoming, California and Connecticut ranking sixth through tenth, respectively.
