TAYLORSVILLE — A Taylorsville woman was killed Thursday in a collision after a man allegedly ran a red light and hit two other vehicles.
Cynthia Davis Eyre, 31, of Taylorsville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred around 3:45 p.m. at 5400 South and 2700 West, Taylorsville Police Sgt. Cory Snodgrass said.
The driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in critical condition, Snodgrass said. Police have yet to release his name.
Officers were investigating whether alcohol played a part in the accident, Snodgrass said.
The man was allegedly driving his west on 5400 South, ran the red light, struck a southbound vehicle on 2700 West, then veered off and struck Eyre's vehicle, which was northbound on 2700 South, Snodgrass said.
Eyre's vehicle went airborne and hit a fourth vehicle driven by Scott Smith, who was stopped at the red light.
"I was just wondering how much farther the car was going to go, if I was going to have to duck or not," Smith said of Eyre's vehicle. "It was like a good 5 feet in the air, heading right for my car."
Smith said he and others checked Eyre's condition, but he did not have a pulse and did not respond to their attempts to administer CPR before emergency responders arrived.
