Broken gas lines caused problems Thursday in Salt Lake City and Davis County. A gas main problem shut down TRAX traffic in Salt Lake City, and a gas line break forced some evacuations in Layton.

Snow removal teams prepared all day for the winter storm working its way across the Wasatch Front. Now that the snow's started to fly, both the Utah Department of Transportation and the Utah Highway Patrol are hoping their prep work will pay off.

News that a stoplight is going up in this
community of fewer than 2,000 residents is a
big deal. The first one for Duchesne is slated
to be up and running in March, and residents
are thrilled — for the most part.

Friday was certainly one of the busiest travel
days of the year, with thousands of packed cars
hitting the road. Some of those who stopped at
Brigham City gas station drove away with a free
tank of gas and a touch of the Christmas

How much commuters pay to ride the bus or train along the Wasatch Front could depend upon how far they wish to travel. UTA is considering a proposal that could have passengers who are traveling longer distances paying more than those traveling a few blocks.

talking on the phone is too dangerous to be
allowed, according to a new recommendation from
the NTSB. Utah already bans texting and
driving, but how many people are ready to give
up talking on the phone in the car too?

A Utah Highway Patrol trooper was injured Friday after a vehicle crashed into his parked patrol car — the second time he has been hit in less than a year.
