Samantha Hayes Reporting The 2006 Olympic Games start in two days, but there is still a lot to get ready. Whether it's athletes getting used to their new environment or Torino putting on the finishing touches, there is still plenty to do.
For some reason, when you hear it and see it at the Olympics, it means a little bit more than when you hear it other places. After years of preparation, the sounds and sights of the Olympics are here.
Casey Fitzgrandolph: "And so to finally get here an enjoy this experience in every way in every aspect is something this time around, especially for me because I've been here a few times before, will be very special."
Utah long track speedskater Casey Fitzgrandolph and the rest of the team are moving into the Athlete village and getting acquainted. All the preparation that can be done is done and the veterans know, this is the part to enjoy.
The heart of the Games will beat downtown in the Plaza Castello. Work is being done up until the last minute for the stage area near the medals plaza, which similar to Salt Lake City, is located in the middle of town in an historical square.
Organizers anticipate thousands of people every night for the ceremony and live entertainment.
You can catch the opening ceremony Friday night right here on KSL-5.
