(KSL News) -- Tooele basketball coach Gary Alverson has died.
Alverson was diagnosed with lung cancer 13 months ago, but continued to coach his team, taking them to the 3A Championships last year.
Last week, the school honored the coach with "Gary Alverson Night" featuring the unfurling of the championship banner.
Alverson was 59.
