One of the boats overturned on the north jetty at Utah Lake State Park. A second boat became stranded in the area of Provo Bay, south of the park, he said.

Two boats became stranded in the southeast part of the lake but were located with the help of an airplane, Cannon said. One ski boat carried two adults and eight children between 4 and 13 years old.

The sheriff's search and rescue team used flat bottom boats and wave runners to help rescue those who were stranded, the sergeant said.

According to Gibson, the water temperature was approximately 64 degrees.
